Barrani is a privacy-first identity layer built on Ethereum, designed to help users regain control over their financial footprint. Inspired by the Argentine expression “barrani”—a colloquial term associated with operating outside traditional visibility—the project reinterprets privacy not as secrecy, but as a natural form of self-preservation in an increasingly transparent digital world.

Built around ENS identities and ERC-5564 stealth accounts, Barrani allows users to create a fresh financial presence, distribute funds across multiple private accounts, and manage them through a unified interface. Instead of focusing on speculation or trading, the product explores how blockchain infrastructure can be used to reduce unnecessary exposure while maintaining a simple and accessible user experience.

The challenge was translating complex privacy primitives into a system that feels understandable, approachable, and even playful. Through the metaphor of the armadillo—a creature that survives by digging tunnels and avoiding unnecessary confrontation—Barrani introduces a new mental model for interacting with onchain privacy, where users manage identities, tunnels, and exposure rather than addresses and cryptographic abstractions.
